Oh the Simple Things In Life...

It's so easy to get caught up in the day to day events of life that we sometimes loose focus of just spending time quietly together as a couple. Of course, we have some quiet evenings around the house, but there are still always things asking to be done. Dishes after dinner, picking up, laundry that just came out of the dryer, or even the temptation to just veg in front of a movie, etc...

This past week, Kyle worked a number of late nights at work and was exhausted. I decided to text him during his last long day and ask him what he desired to do that night, giving a few ideas that came to mind. I was thrilled when he picked the option of going to the Ohio waterfront for a picnic dinner. I was so excited and spent the afternoon making pasta salad, cutting a fresh watermelon, making homemade cookies, etc... to take on our picnic. We found some swings that overlooked the water and bridges and just enjoyed sitting, swinging, eating, and chatting. It was a perfect date night and way to relax!


There is just something about learning to enjoy and treasure the simple things in life that is so refreshing! I am so grateful for a husband who enjoys the same! I love him so dearly and am so blessed to have him as my husband, the father to our baby girl, and the spiritual leader in our home. 

Our 9 Month Anniversary

This past week, on March 13th, we celebrated our 9 month wedding anniversary! The Lord has blessed us immensely during our marriage and we are so grateful to Him for His work in our lives!

We celebrated the day with a wonderful date night on Saturday. We went to Applebees for dinner then went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D at a nearby movie theater. We had so much just enjoying each other's company. We are truly best friends and love doing life together!









4th of July Weekend

This weekend Kyle and I had a great time together on our date night Friday and with friends! On Friday night, July 3rd, we had our own little 4th celebration by using a gift card and going to Red Lobster for dinner, then we went to the Waterfront for a country concert and fireworks show. It was great!

Down at the Waterfront, as we were walking to the concert site, the ship that carries all the fireworks was passing by us. Isn't that neat? All the fireworks were set off from this ship...

Keith & Kristyn Getty


Tonight Kyle and I attended a concert at Southern by Keith & Kristyn Getty. If you are not familiar with them, they wrote the much loved song, In Christ Alone, that many churches now sing. The concert was so wonderful! As I mentioned to Kyle afterward, the neat thing about going to a concert like theirs is that it's like your just worshiping together. It's a night of singing and worshiping together, one voice, one passion, one Savior and Lord! Our eyes were turned towards our Savior as we sung about his death, his compassion, his grace, etc...

They have some new songs coming out on an album in a few months that we got to hear tonight and they were wonderful! The most recent song they wrote was on Christ's compassion towards us. When they sang it tonight it was such a genuine song, full of praise towards our Savior. I can't wait for it to come out on CD!

I'll post a few videos so that you can be introduced to their beautiful music.

Happy Birthday Kyle!

On Friday I captured Kyle for the afternoon and evening to take him somewhere special for his birthday. We drove about an hour away to Madison, Indiana where we enjoyed the little historic town and scenic park. We spent the evening walking up and down Main Street, checking out the Fudge shops, coffee shops, music stores, etc... It was so relaxing to just get out of town and enjoy a simple, laid back atmosphere!!!

Us being goofy for the camera... however, we do laugh at each other a lot! haha... Kyle makes me laugh more than almost anyone else I know! I love that!!! :-)

We found this big water fountain near Main Street... it was all dried up, but still neat!

Haha... ok, so one yard had this adorable little puppy statue in front. It was so cute we couldn't resist taking a couple pictures with it. :-)

A beautiful road we traveled up to get to Clifty Falls... a park that overlooks the Ohio Falls.

We stopped along the road to take pictures with the leaves. People passing by probably thought we were crazy! haha...
We kept retaking pictures to capture more of the leaves... finally, I just grabbed a leaf and held it close for this pic! haha... :-)

Haha... ok so this is one of my all time favorite pictures of Kyle! I think it just shows off his fun personality so well! Besides... the leaves are pretty in it too. :-)

I love the leaves in this picture!!! The fall time up here is SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

Once again, we love to laugh, have good times, and be goofy together! :-)

I really like this picture because it's different yet sweet and simple. :-) Good job Babe on taking it!!! :-) I LOVE this picture! Kyle was so creative to take it. I love the colors... I love the grass and tall weeds behind us, haha... I love us... I love the soft hint of blue in the sky above... it's just a great photo! :-)

Date Night!

Hey all!

Well, since I've been SO great at updating recently... (haha... j/k!!!) I thought I'd put up some pictures of Kyle and I's first date night from last night. As many college and seminary students know... most "couple time" is spent studying together, eating together, etc... so when you have time to actually steal away and do a date night... it's pretty special!

Well... to brag on my man for a second... he did an amazing job planning our first official date night!!! He surprised me with the events for the evening. All I knew was to dress warmly because he said we'd be spending some time outside. Well, when he picked me up he said he was taking me to LaGrange which is a small town about twenty minutes from school. I was quite impressed with his plan for the evening!!!

So we spent the evening walking around the town square... taking pictures... and just enjoying each others company. For dinner we ate at a fun new restaurant called the Irish Rover. It was REALLY GOOD!!! I don't think I've ever had Irish food before... but I will definitely be going back! There was a lot of Salmon on the menu, which surprised me. I didn't realize that salmon was so popular in Irish food. I was thrilled though because I love it!!!

Well, here are some pictures from our wonderful night...
While walking around the town, we came to this beautiful church. It's even a Baptist Church too! Haha... I loved Kyle's comment "you know we're seminary students when we're taking pictures of the church!" haha... :-)

Here's my supper. A mix of potatoes and salmon with steamed veggies. It was AMAZING!!! SOOOOOOO good!

Kyle got the salmon burger which was really good too. On the side was a dill sauce to put on top... excellent!!!!! It was even good on the fries too!!! [btw... notice... the candle light! ;-) ]

After dinner, we walked around the town again, going into whatever shops were open. We found a really fun toy shop that was open. It was really neat being in a small town because everyone knew their customers and enjoyed spending time with them. We also got to go inside a shop called "Christmas in Kentucky." It was really neat! There was also a train track that ran right down main street so we walked down the side walk within a few feet of the train passing through!



Of course, we had to take pictures on the train track...

One of the highlights of our evening was finding this tree. As we were walking down Main street, looking in the shop windows, there was this tree that had been warmly dressed for the winter outside a shop that sells crocheted and knit items. We both laughed so hard when we saw it!!!


Hahaha... we quickly fell in love with the tree... ;-)

So basically, we had a wonderful night! After leaving LeGrange, the continuation of his plan was to watch a movie together... so out came.... dun ta dun... a Christmas movie.... yea!!! He knows I love Christmas time and Christmas movies so he sweetly treated me to one. Also, after seeing all the Christmas shops in LaGrange we were in the mood for one.
Well... that was our first date night. Props to Kyle and all his planning! He's such a blessing to have in my life!!! Thanks Babe! :-)
